THE SANITY SQUAD: An Election is Just An Election

It's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory; a case of do or die.....

At least it's the same old story over and over and over again as all the ambitious politicians have alreadly begun to line up and take their shot at the 2008 Presidential sweepstakes!

The latest podcast of The Sanity Squad is now posted at Pajamas Media ; and this week we consider the seemingly neverending election cycle: where the minute one national election is finally over and done, the campaigning for the next one begins almost immediately--leaving the American public with no time to even catch their breath.

No wonder we move from infatuation to infatuation in our political affairs; never finding any lasting or meaningful love in all the ongoing insanity! Is it really surprising that we are a trifle weary of the whole process?

Now that presidential campaigns last two years — and that’s just officially — an election is going on just about half the time, the other half being spent recovering from the last one. This is known as "election creep".

But at least the ‘06 - ‘08 campaign isn’t lacking for interesting candidates, featuring one of the most diverse group of presidential wannabees ever. The Squad takes a look at the frontrunners, the interminable process, and the terminal effect it’s having on the electorate.

Join Shrinkwrapped, Neo-neocon, Siggy , and me as we discuss the clear risks of exposure to this peculiarly American political insanity. Unfortunately, we can't resist opining on the various candidates already in the fray on both sides of the political spectrum ourselves, thus proving that we are no more immune to the political bug than anyone else!

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !

AS TIME GOES BY

[This day and age we're living in
Gives cause for apprehension
With speed and new invention
And things like fourth dimension.
Yet we get a trifle weary
With Mr. Einstein's theory.
So we must get down to earth at times
Relax relieve the tension

And no matter what the progress
Or what may yet be proved
The simple facts of life are such
They cannot be removed.]

You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo
They still say, "I love you."
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs
Never out of date.
Hearts full of passion
Jealousy and hate.
Woman needs man
And man must have his mate
That no one can deny.

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

Oh yes, the world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.
