Mega Hysteria

I guess Donald Sutherland is the new font of political wisdom since he is an actor who stars in a series about the White House:

Choking back tears, COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF star Donald Sutherland warned this week: President Bush "will destroy our lives!"

The star of the new ABC drama, which follows the first woman President of the United States, lashed out at the real White House during a dramatic sit down interview with the BBC.

Sutherland ripped Bush and his administration for the war and Hurricane Katrina fallout.

The Louisiana Conservative is going out on a limb to suggest that soon Bush will be blamed for the fact that the sun is heating up.

Well hell, why not? This Bush guy has to be the most diabolical, demonic person to ever be born--a combination of Hitler, Genghis Khan, and Hannibal Lechter in a smiling, hairy chimpy suit. He is the source of all our ills; all the evil in the world; and he probably hurts kittens and puppies in his spare time.

Is there anyone else out there who is beginning to tire of the endless hyperbole and vitriol directed at this Administration? I have used the word "hysteria" to describe the overly emotional and bizarre reactions of the Left, but perhaps that word is too mild.

What we have here is a Mega-hysteria that is unprecedented -- even in American politics. Perhaps I will have to revise my thoughts about the use of anti-anxiety drugs, since we appear to have an epidemic of anxiety-induced idiocyhistrionics on our hands...?

UPDATE: And just to prove that hysteria is not confined to the Left, I offer the spectacle of the Right's reaction today to the nomination of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court. In particular, one of my favorites William Kristol. Come'on, Bill--depressed? Demoralized? Aren't we being a teensy bit premature?
