Gadahn was known for his smug demeanor on camera (see this NRO review from January 2008), and his conceitedness my have been his undoing. Rumors of his death had been circulating since soon after the Predator strike early this year that killed senior al Qaida leader Abu Laith al-Libi. The fact that Gadahn has not yet appeared in a video mocking those who believed we got him is fairly good evidence that the reports are true. If he does not make one of his annual 9/11 commemorative videos this year I think we can cross him off the list. In 2005 he had said, "don't count on us demonstrating restraint or compassion."
