It turns out that the Spanish terrorist attacks from March, which led Spain to depart Iraq in a panic at the behest of the terrorists-- was planned long before any decision was made to go to Iraq by the U.S. In other words, the Spanish would have been attacked by Al Qaeda even if there had been no Iraq war. So, Spain's hope that their country will be left alone if they pay the terrorist price is merely a painful delusion; and their hysterical caving-in to Islamofascist intimidation was an act of useless self-flagellation.
