Think Again

The posturing, anemnestic Democrats, currently in hysterics about Iraqi WMD intelligence and CIA leaks and the such, continue with their partisan [and I believe treasonous- as defined by giving aid and comfort to the enemies of our country]-- attempts to delude the American public into thinking that the Iraq war was all a plot by the Bush Adminsitration. It is too bad for them that historical documentation tells a completely different story, with a slightly different timeline: (read all of Reynold's piece)

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Bill Clinton, February 4, 1998

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Bill Clinton, February 17, 1998

"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction." - Madeline Albright, February 1, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, February 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton. - (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, October 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), December 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton's Secretary of State, November 10, 1999.

The anti-war fundraising base of the Democrats -- as exemplified by organizations like MoveOn.org -- is powerful enough to require Democratic politicians like Harry Reid to pretend that all the WMD stuff began with President Bush. That is, not to put too fine a point on it, a gross and partisan lie. (emphasis mine)

Not only that. It is a gross and partisan lie during a time of war. It is a deliberate attempt to undermine this country and its President for the sole purpose of regaining their own political power. National interests are way down on their list of priorities.

These posturing fools are the same dissemblers who champion the serially lying Joe Wilson; and who, after a decade of gleefully castrating the CIA and other intelligence services; now are desperately trying to cover up their own incompetence and pretend that they knew all along the hidden truth of all the intelligence.

Their self-righteous, narcissistic aggrandizement is thoroughly repulsive.

And while they are in the grip of this convoluted faux moral enlightenment they are are tying to push the unbelievable hogwash that Scooter Libby is evil incarnate for not confirming to reporters that Plame was a CIA agent (go ahead--actually read what Libby said as documented in the indictment).

All that is needed now to achieve an even more perfect moral duplicity is for them to raise the Clinton Administration's National Security Advisor Sandy Berger up as a symbol of the highest moral authority because his love of country and duty-- and that alone--led to his escapades in classified document theft and destruction during the 9/11 hearings.

The Democrats appear to base their entire set of operating principles firmly upon the famous con-artist perception of of the world: There's a sucker born every minute.

They better think again.

UPDATE: The Anchoress wonders if Bill Clinton lied about WMD--ince the intell came from his administration and since he also acted on it. EXCELLENT QUESTION. Let's ask it, shall we? Let's call in Mr. Clinton's NSA Berger and get to the bottom of this....oh, wait....
